He posts a flag representing Pride and requests that all his visitors, (daily or just passing through) post it on their own blogs as a show of gay solidarity. However, this year he’s asked that all who participate tell the story of their own transition into the greater family of man.  The out ‘n proud GAY ONE.

In contemplating this, I again realized what I’ve always known.  Mine was a cake-walk when put up against the stories we all tell of this pivotal moment.  I was the son of two progressive NY’ers who each had gay siblings who were out; and proud of it, long before my 1973 debut into ‘the life.”

The pain I caused myself anticipating how to broach the subject with the fam, was eased by my father who knew what I was experiencing- since my first crush was sent to a Kabul to study for the summer and I wore a new groove into Carole Kings ‘So Far Away’; he made sure I knew he understood and still loved me. Made sure I kept myself physically safe from the rest of the neighborhood and assured me that Avi would return and life would continue. He did, and it did.

I am a proud gay man on this special day when my brothers and sisters on the left coast, get their civil rights recognized come this afternoon. HAPPY PRIDE

Personally, I think SJP is one of the most beautiful women in television. Even since the Sq. Peg days depending on the lighting.  Viewers know what I’m talking about.  The face-shot of her saying goodbye to Big outside Mt. Sinai is beyond wonderful.  The face-shot of Miranda’s water breaking onto those feathery Manolo’s is hard as stone & hideous.

Moscow’s skyline is about to change, a 612 meters tower is rising in Moscow International Business Center, 118 floors (101 elevators) to be completed in 2012. Designed by Foster + Partners.

Upon completion it will be the tallest building in Europe and the second tallest in the world. It will be second only to the Burj Dubai.

What’s interesting to me is “why isn’t there something this well thoughout and interesting here in NYC?”  Like in lower Manhattan? Say near Crt St./Dey St./Liberty St./West St.?  Looks like a freedom tower to me.

Despite some obstacles thrown up at the last minute by the City and Organzer’s failed attempts to change their minds, this Sunday the NYC Pride Parade will march down 5th Avenue from 55th street through Chelsea and the Village and wind up just short of the Piers. 

There are no organized Heritage of Pride events planned for after the parade- so downtown will be filled with tons of guys looking for a bathroom, some nourishment and pair of soulful eyes to close the evening with.  If you’re interested, GMHC is still looking for volunteers and just your presence on the parade route will make a huge difference.

 So come out, show your pride, Kiss a Boi and let’s  make our presence felt and our voices heard.  See you there.
