One lesson in life that’s survived since childhood, and stayed true throughout my life is that you’d better be careful of stirring the pot because the burnt stuff and the bottom could spoil the whole meal.  Sen. Itunes has a menu option called “last played”. I’ve never relateed to it- but lately; It’s been revealing where I’ve been for the last few weeks and to read it -vs listening to it… is really scary.

When your forced to realize that your tastes have stretched between great Jazz (STAN GETZ0 and Gansta Rap (LIL KIM) your forced to take a look at yourself.  That is if you’re sane. (lol)

I found this really 80’s, morning after mix of La India and had to share it with you. If you’ve ever been to a circuit party; you’ll understand what the nusic represents. It’s 9:00am, the morning light is something you fear because of the commute home, the drugs are wearing off, the line for the coat check is a mile long and you never got the number of all the guys you wanted to see again. Somewhere.

It’s July 5th, It’s Saturday. The rain kept the illegal fireworks to a minimum and the papers aren’t leadng with stories of adolescent fingers blown-off. Its summer ‘08. ENJOY!

If you’re fans of Amy Winehouse, or Duffy, or the other ’60s throw back pop singers invading the airwaves and your I-Pod lately; you must check out Jamie Lidell. The British techno soulman recently visited AOL’s The Interfaceand played a brief acoustic set featuring the songs “Another Day,” “Little Bit of Feel Good,” “Where’d You Go” and “Game For Fools.” 

I was so impressed with this set from Jamie I had to bring it to you.  After listening to countless pre-release sample CD’s; I’m convinced that this is how all new studio albums should be released. He’s not to be missed and definitely the leader of this new ‘throw-back’ pack.

Via Kelly at Rambling Along in Life…. He’s started what’s become a yearly tadition. He posts a flag representing Pride and requests that all his visitors, (daily or just passing through) post it on their own blogs as a show of gay solidarity. However, this year he’s asked that all who participate tell the story of their own transition into the greater family of man.  The out ‘n proud GAY ONE.

In contemplating this, I again realized what I’ve always known.  Mine was a cake-walk when put up against the stories we all tell of this pivotal moment.  I was the son of two progressive NY’ers who each had gay siblings who were out; and proud of it, long before my 1973 debut into ‘the life.”

The pain I caused myself anticipating how to broach the subject with the fam, was eased by my father who knew what I was experiencing- since my first crush was sent to a Kabul to study for the summer and I wore a new groove into Carole Kings ‘So Far Away’; he made sure I knew he understood and still loved me. Made sure I kept myself physically safe from the rest of the neighborhood and assured me that Avi would return and life would continue. He did, and it did.

I am a proud gay man on this special day when my brothers and sisters on the left coast, get their civil rights recognized come this afternoon. HAPPY PRIDE

Oh.  To be ‘In Treatment’ Or at least in an In Treatment Spoof with Tom Ford!!!!!!

If you’ve ever been in therapy, then you know the pitfalls of falling for the guy.  They steer you clear of the option from the start; but striking down emerging feelings for the man kissing the really big boo-boo’s away is hard. 

You want to stay clear of anything that even remotely resembles any of the situations that got you here in the first place but its hard for a grown man to strip-away the layers that get you a positive result, and not allow yourself to revert to the bad ways that make you subservient to the one that holds your head above the fray, makes sure you keep it skyward and restores the missing pieces.

The fact that they’d never act on those feelings is what allows us to make ourselves whole again. But damn.  What a ride down the rabbit hole it would be if Tommy Boy where there for the jaunt. Part of this series were a little too out-there for my tastes; but what I loved about it was that they made it available via Pod-cast. So I got to watch it in one sitting, one lonely Saturday afternoon.  I hope they do it again.
